Client Agreement

 Ray Knight Casting Limited operates as an Employment Agency in alignment with the Employment Agencies Act 1973 and the conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003.

  • a written agreement must be supplied (including full client / invoicing details) before the agency can proceed with bookings.

  • existing union agreements will govern terms and rates of pay for work undertaken. Full details of the rates can be found on our rates page and copies of the relevant agreement can be supplied on request.

  • commercials, photographic, corporate videos, voice over, further usage / buyouts or any other type of engagement not covered by a union agreement will be priced as per our agency rates or by negotiation (please note: travel payments may need to be added according to location).

  • on any engagement where the contribution of the artiste exceeds that agreed on prior to the job, the artiste may be entitled to an upgrade and an increased fee (eg. upgrading from background to walk on or featured).

  • FOR THE PURPOSES OF TAX and national insurance, ARTISTEs are CONSIDERED SELF-EMPLOYED SERVICE PROVIDERs AND SHOULD IN NO WAY BE DEEMED TO BE AN EMPLOYEE of the agency. ARTISTES ARE EMPLOYED BY THE PRODUCER OF THE MATERIAL BUT RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN TAX UNDER SCHEDULE D TOGETHER WITH CLASS 2 NATIONAL INSURANCE (AND CLASS 4 WHERE APPLICABLE). where an artiste is contracted for longer periods by a production they may be considered p.a.y.e employees of the client, in which case agency commission will still be payable to ray knight casting at the usual rates.

  • Health and Safety & insurance - it is the duty of the production to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare at work of all artistes when on base, set or in transportation between sites (if provided by the production) in accordance with the relevant statutory requirements. These include the management of health and safety at work regulations, the health and safety at work act and related guidance and codes of practice. health and safety information and instructions must be relayed to artistes as necessary in accordance with the employment agencies act 1973. the production company must have both public liability and employers' liability insurance in place for all artiste engagements.

  • when a production cancels a booking the day before, cancellation fees may be payable depending on the agreement in use. For example, under the pact/faa agreement, bookings cancelled between midday and 17.30 the day before will incur a charge of 50% of the basic rate and those cancelled after 17.30, 100%.

  • artiste payments must be paid directly to the ray knight casting limited business account.

  • the production company must not pay artistes directly. If they do, the agency reserves the right to invoice the company for the full amount.

  • payments should be made in a timely fashion. unjustified delays and unpaid invoices will be pursued vigorously (through the courts if necessary).

  • ray knight casting limited takes responsibility for ensuring all artistes have the right to work in the uk and will verify and retain copies of supporting documentation as required.
